Loudoun Hot Spots: Date Night Edition
Rustic charm, elevated flavors, and a touch of magic.
If you’re from Loudoun County, then you know to visit the ’burgs, Leesburg and Middleburg. From cozy barbecue joints to countryside wine tastings, Loudoun has no shortage of unforgettable date night experiences. Whether you’re after smoky comfort food, fresh oysters, or a fireside evening under twinkling lights, here are a few of our team’s favorite spots to make your next night out special.
Hammerdown BBQ — Southern Comfort
When it comes to comfort food done right, Hammerdown in Aldie tops our list. Owner Ken, a first generation American and U.S. Marine veteran, has made his mark on Virginia barbecue with this local favorite. It’s the kind of place that feels like home, warm, welcoming, and full of flavor. Enjoy barbecue classics, homemade sides, and regional craft beer for an easygoing night worth repeating.
Must Try: Beef brisket and cornbread paired with a craft beer
King Street Oyster Bar — Coastal Meets Country
Found in both Leesburg and Middleburg, King Street Oyster Bar delivers coastal freshness right here in Loudoun. When in Leesburg, head upstairs to the bar for a relaxed, lively atmosphere and a menu that makes you feel seaside in the heart of Virginia. Come for happy hour and order a variety of oysters on the half shell, paired with a Chop House Salad or a handcrafted cocktail. Whether you’re celebrating something special or just escaping for the evening, it’s an instant favorite.
Must Try: Oysters on the half shell, Chop House Salad, Lobster Roll
The Aldie Peddler — Sip & Stay
A hidden gem in Aldie, Virginia that captures Loudoun’s wine country soul. The Aldie Peddler (look for the sign with the white dog!) features a delicious selection of wines from Virginia and across the globe so every visit feels like a trip around the world in a glass. We love the welcoming atmosphere, personalized service, and fantastic wine tastings. Every time we visit, we leave happy…and maybe a little tipsy.
Must Try: Wine tastings with Wally
Salamander Resort & Spa — Holiday Magic
A must see if you’re visiting Middleburg, Virginia. For a truly memorable date night this season, trade the dinner table (we love dinner here too!) for a wagon ride to Santa’s Workshop at the Salamander Resort. Afterward, cozy up by one of the resort’s many fire pits with s’mores and a warm drink in hand. It’s festive, romantic, and uniquely Loudoun, the perfect blend of holiday spirit and countryside charm. Buy tickets early as this event sells out fast!
Must Try: Wagon ride + s’mores by the fire
First Friday in Leesburg — Local Vibes
On the first Friday of each month (except January), historic downtown Leesburg comes alive with music, art, and community spirit. Stroll through over 45 shops, galleries, and restaurants. Many of these sites offer up live music, wine tastings, art exhibits, and special deals. It’s the perfect way to kick off the weekend, lively, local, and full of charm.
Next Event: December 5, 2025
Tuscarora Mill — Kelly’s Pick
An iconic Leesburg favorite, Tuscarora Mill blends refined dining with rustic charm. High end New American fare and Virginia wines shine here, whether you’re seated in the elegant dining room, the cozy bar, or the bright, airy atrium. Kelly can’t resist the eating here time and again, every dish on the menu is delicious.
Must Try: Bread pudding, shrimp and grits, crab cakes
